Volunteers

We have a very passionate and committed group of volunteers. Volunteers staff the Books for Me! locations and assist in running book drives and sorting books. Time commitment is 4 hours per month. If you love working with children and have a passion for books, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at booksformevancouver@gmail.com.

Board of Directors

Beth Rennie

Beth works in client service with a global health and wellbeing organization, supporting employers in providing mental health and wellness programmes to their employees.  Beth has over 20 years experience in the human resources field with experience in Vancouver, London and Chicago.  Beth joined Books For Me! for in 2017 and has enjoyed sharing her love of children's books and reading with the many children that participate in our programs. 


Kira Domaschuk

Kira worked as a Co Producer in the film industry for many years before taking a break to raise her daughter. She has a love of children's literature and a deep appreciation for the role that books and reading play in a child's development. In recent years, Kira has volunteered in numerous roles as part of the Parent Advisory Council at her daughter's school as well as at Ronald McDonald House and other community based organizations.


Michelle Lowe

Michelle was a Public Health Nurse working with babies, children and young families in homes, daycares, schools and community agencies for many years. She stepped away 7 years ago to be home with her daughter and son. She has always been passionate about promoting and educating families about healthy development. She views literacy as an essential part of a child's development. Michelle has been an active volunteer in her community, supporting local schools and arts organizations.


Daisy Hotson

Daisy Hotson has been a life long book lover. Upon finishing her degree at The University of Victoria in Women's Studies and Sociology, she decided to turn her love of books into a career and become a Librarian. She began a Masters in Library and Information Studies at The School of Information at The University of British Columbia. Here she focused on Children's literature and literacy in a library setting. Since graduating, she has worked as Children's Librarian in urban public library settings for 15 years in many of Toronto and Vancouver's public libraries.

Currently, she holds an Early Years focused position where she spends her days planning literacy based programs for children inside the library and with partner organizations all over the Vancouver. Other non profit volunteer experience includes a most memorable stint working with Bookclubs for Inmates, as a facilitator for a book club in a federal BC prison for women.


Jennifer Devins

Jennifer is a partner at Roper Greyell LLP, where she practices labour and employment law. Much of Jennifer's practice is focused on the education sector, and she is ranked as one of Canada's best education lawyers. Prior to law school, Jennifer obtained an undergraduate degree in English, which fed her passion for books. She has passed her love of reading and writing onto her two young kids.


Audra Yap

Audra Yap graduated from the University of Essex with a Bachelors (Hons.) in Accounting and Financial Management and earned her CPA, CGA in 1998. She has experience in both private and public sectors and currently provides consulting services to a non-profit and businesses in the health industry. She lives in Vancouver and shares her passion for reading with her two children.
